Single Family Tax Rates

Average single family tax rates are a measure of the tax burden which exists in each community.

The first chart shows the absolute tax cost for an average single family owner in each town, as computed by Massachusetts.
The second chart shows the “rank” relative to other towns in the Commonwealth. For example, a rank of 8, means a town has the eighth highest average single tax burden in Massachusetts.

State data is missing for some cities, such as Boston, Cambridge, Chelsea, and Somerville as these towns have residential tax exemptions and have more complex calculations.
